This attractive municipality situated in the popular region of O Salnés, in the heart of the Rías Baixas in the province of Pontevedra, is the most touristy coastal town in all of Galicia.

Its main attraction is its 36 kilometres of coast with some of the best beaches in Galicia including urban ones in Silgar, Canelas, Caneliñas, Baltar and other more peaceful ones such as Areas, Montalvo, Major and A Lanzada.

Sanxenxo currently boasts the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in all of Galicia, with 14 sandy strips awarded by the EU.

Located in Meis, it is just moments from Sanxenxo. It is catalogued as a historical-artistic monument and thanks to its architecture, size, materials, location and surroundings it is a place full of charm, that is almost magical, on the sides of mount Castrove.

From an architectural point of view it is one of the best examples of Romanesque art in Galicia.

They belong to the National Land-Marine Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia (Illas Atlánticas), which since 13 June 2002 has been the first National Park in the Galician community.

You can visit these heavenly islands during the summer months and enjoy their spectacular scenery, rich fauna and unique vegetation.

The nearby Ons Island forms part of the Natural Park of the Atlantic Islands, next to the Cíes, Sálvora, and Cortegada islands.

It can be fully explored in just a day, although you can also camp on it, by placing a request a few days in advance.

Boats leave from Sanxenxo and Portonovo every 45 minutes from 10 in the morning.

Of all the beaches that surround Ons Island one that stands out is the stunning and heavenly playa de Melide, where you can take part in naturism.

This small, heavenly island is situated in the Rías Baixas, opposite O Grove and 30 km from Pontevedra.

The place is famous for its magnificent spa, surrounded by stunning and idyllic scenery, with a practically virgin forest surrounding it. A place with no noise, ideal for getting away from it all, relaxing and meditating.

We recommend an excursion which leaves you in the capital of Galicia, Santiago de Compostela, a mythical pilgrimage site, passing through fascinating places such as Cambados, Illa de Arousa, Vilagarcía and Padrón.

In Santiago you must visit Plaza de Obradoiro square where you’ll find the Cathedral of Santiago, which is home to the mythical Botafumeiro and the relics of the Apostle.

Other must-sees are the Pazo de Raxoi palace and the old Colegio de los Irlandeses (Irish College).
